Director, Green Art Gallery, Dubai
In 2010, Yasmin Atassi became the director of Green Art Gallery, Dubai, co-founded by her late mother, Mayla Atassi, in 1995. Over the past decade she has overseen a growing, multi-generational roster of artists, hailing from Iran, Palestine, Turkey, Pakistan and, more recently, South America. Group shows in recent years have included ‘Modernist Women of Egypt’ (2017), featuring artists such as Inji Efflatoun and Vessela Farid, and ‘Remnants’ (2018), which explored the proliferation of waste in modern society. This year Green Art Gallery has exhibited at Art Dubai, Dallas Art Fair, and Liste; in autumn 2019 it will show once again at Frieze London and FIAC. Atassi is on the advisory committee of the Atassi Foundation, which promotes Syrian art on the global stage.
