The group exhibition at the South London Gallery (24 June–4 September) brings together fourteen international artists whose practices engage with the history of power. Organised by Gabi Ngcobo, the South African curator and director of the Javett Art Centre, and the Colombian artist Oscar Murillo, the show examines the artists’ personal relationships to the after-effects of historical violence. Highlights include the collaborative research project, How Many ____ Does It Take? (2021) by Simnikiwe Buglungu and Tessa Mars, in which the artists explore the cross-generational afterlife of oppression through archival photography and newspaper cuttings.
