Independent curator, Seoul
Through her work as an independent curator, Sungah Serena Choo has become renowned for her knack of discovering new talent in Korea. This year, she collaborated with BB&M gallery in Seoul on the exhibition ‘Cold Pitch’, which presented work by four rising stars of the Seoul scene, ranging from painting and sculpture to video and installation; other recent projects include ‘Another Asian Artist’, co-curated with Taku Santiago Sato and Yang Jian to present the work of nine artists of the Asian diaspora. Choo was a participant in the Korea Research Fellow: 10×10, a symposium in 2020 that brought 10 international curators into dialogue with 10 from Korea. Choo is a co-founder of BGA, a platform offering daily art images and essays as well as exhibitions.
