The way in which academic research is presented and disseminated increasingly seems as crucial as its content. Sarah Victoria Turner has brought fresh ideas to the Paul Mellon Centre, programming inventive conferences and seminars and taking responsibility for new digital initiatives – which will soon include an open-access online journal. Her own research explores modern art in the context of the cultural networks of the British Empire, and she is working on what promises to be a highly original book, on the reception of Indian art in 20th-century Britain.
