Pair of wine coolers
(1834), Paul Storr
Storr was the most celebrated gold- and silversmith in Britain during the first half of the 19th century, renowned for his grand neoclassical pieces. In 1819, he left the firm of Rundell, Bridge & Rundell to open his own shop and turned his attention to more naturalistic designs. These wine coolers – possibly the earliest examples of this model – are made to resemble simple woven baskets, with grapes and vine leaves tumbling from their rims.
