Museo Reina Sofia’s latest exhibition (3 June–19 September) considers the relationship between image and text in the work of Spanish artist Néstor Sanmiguel Diest from the late 1980s to the present day. Known for his use of found materials such as magazine and newspaper clippings, Sanmiguel Diest is interested in the pictorial stories or codes that emerge through the layering and splicing of materials. Highlights include Goethe dice (1991) and Amanecer. Los piratas (1988), both of which conceal fragments of text within bold geometric lattices. Find out more on the Museo Reina Sofia’s website.
