Met selects Alicja Kwade for 2019 roof garden commission | Alicja Kwade (one of the artists in this year’s Apollo 40 under 40 Europe) has been selected by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for the seventh Roof Garden Commission. Kwade, who was born in Poland and is based in Berlin, is primarily known for her experiential sculptures and installations. ‘Alicja Kwade, ParaPivot’ will be on view at the Met from 16 April to 27 October of this year.
Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio win Royal Academy Architecture Prize | The New York architects Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio, who co-founded Diller Scofidio + Renfro in 1981, have been announced as this year’s recipients of the Royal Academy Architecture Prize. Notable projects of the firm, which is currently carrying out MoMA’s $400m expansion project, include the High Line in New York and the Broad Museum in LA. The RA has also announced the shortlist for the Dorfman Award, which recognises emerging architects.
Nuremberg prosecutor seizes 63 suspected Hitler forgeries | The Art Newspaper reports that the Nuremberg-Fuerth prosecutor’s office has seized 63 works attributed to Adolf Hitler from the Auktionshaus Weidler, on the suspicion that they are forgeries. Twenty-six of the seized items were intended to be included in an auction this Saturday, alongside five further works and a number of possessions that have not been seized. A spokesperson has stated that they were received from multiple consignors; the auction house is not the subject of the investigation.
Oliver Barker to director Cape Ann Museum in Massachusetts | The Cape Ann Museum (CAM) in Massachusetts has announced that Oliver Barker will join the institution as director, beginning his role on 1 April. Barker joins CAM from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where he was manager of foundation, government and international relations.
