Marie Cuttoli: The Modern Thread from Miró to Man Ray

While some museums remain shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are now reopening as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.

The entrepreneur Marie Cuttoli played a leading role in the revival of the French tapestry industry in the early 20th century, commissioning major artists and designers such as Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso and Le Corbusier to produce designs for the historic tapestry workshops in Aubusson. This exhibition includes a number of celebrated modernist tapestries, while also exploring Cuttoli’s early career in fashion and interior design. The show reopens at the Barnes Foundation on 25 July, and continues until 23 August. Find out more from the Barnes Foundation’s website.
