Life During Wartime

While many museums remain shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are now reopening as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.

For this virtual display, the USF Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa has asked a number of international artists to contribute works that engage with the coronavirus crisis, exploring the rapid changes to our experiences of the world since the pandemic was declared on 5 March. New works will be added to the exhibition, which runs from 6 June–12 December, over time: among those currently displayed are Spencer Tunick’s Stay Apart Together – a series of images of participants in isolation at home, posing in unison via video conference and naked but for some face masks – and Newsha Tavakolian’s photographs of Tehran in lockdown.
