Apollo
Art Diary

Kunsthaus Zürich

6 August 2021

This week’s Apollo Art Diary highlights museums and expansions that are scheduled to open later this year.

After 12 years’ planning and construction – and to the tune of some 206 million Swiss francs (£163m) – the Kunsthaus Zürich is finally set to open the doors of its David Chipperfield-designed extension to the public on 9 October. It will now be the largest art museum in Switzerland, doubling the amount of gallery space in which to show off its extensive collections of modern and contemporary art. The new building boasts an expansive entrance hall, while its galleries will host displays of art since 1960, as well as paintings and sculptures from the collection of Emil Georg Bührle, including works by Monet, Degas and Van Gogh. Find out more from the Kunsthaus’s website.
