Dutch entrepreneur Kai van Hasselt began collecting contemporary art at the age of 19 on a visit to the Art Rotterdam fair. He was working as a trend analyst, a job that furnished the opportunity to ‘travel to many European and American cities and see museum and gallery shows’ under the guiding influence of an artist friend. He has since founded Shinsekai Analysis, whose activities include urban trend analysis and corporate art projects. His art collecting has flourished in tandem, and now includes works by Pablo Bronstein and Elad Lassry, along with various young international artists. Van Hasselt has also garnered a reputation as a lecturer and board member of Dutch art institutions.
