While museums around the world are shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibition openings will be replaced by a selection of digital initiatives providing virtual access to art and culture.
The quarterly journal Image, which looks at the arts through the lens of religion, is presenting ‘Home Alone Together’, an online photography exhibition reflecting the experiences of 25 artists in quarantine around the world. Every week since the beginning of April, each artist has contributed a photograph taken in their own living quarters; the project will continue into July. The resulting composite image of home – which can be navigated by week, by room, or by artist – depicts a site of complex new experiences and emotions. It is curated by the journal’s visual arts editor Aaron Rosen and the artist S. Billie Mandle. Visit the Image website to explore the exhibition.
