Director, Lasmara, Lagos
With a background in finance, and following a stint at Haunch of Venison gallery in London, in 2013 Hana Omilani decided to launch her own art consultancy. Lasmara – a fusion of Lagos, where Omilani now lives, and Asmara, where she was born – is an independent firm specialising in contemporary African art.
Last year Omilani also launched Impart Artists Fair in Lagos, which, with its theme of ‘Art Meets Tech’, focused on creative endeavours in the tech industry – including via a curated display of art made using virtual and augmented reality technologies. Omilani’s commitment to promoting new talent led her to offer free booths to artists; over the coming years she plans to tour the fair to other cities on the continent.
