Grace Ndiritu is making her name by marrying a craft tradition with new media. Drawing on her Kenyan roots, the artist combines printed African textiles with film and performance to create rich and unsettling narratives. Described as ‘hand-crafted videos’ and ‘video paintings’, Ndiritu’s work has been commissioned or shown widely – at the Centre Pompidou, Paris; Chisenhale Gallery, London; Studio Museum, New York; Ikon, Birmingham; and the 51st Venice Biennale. Her work is also housed in museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
