Getty Research Institute names Mary Miller as next director | The J. Paul Getty Trust has announced the appointment of Mary Miller, currently a professor of art history at Yale University and senior director of Yale’s Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, as its next director. Miller, a leading expert in the art of Mesoamerica, will succeed Thomas Gaehtgens, who has led the institute since 2007, when he retires at the end of the year.
Collector sues Jeff Koons and Gagosian Gallery | Steve Tananbaum is suing Jeff Koons, LLC and Gagosian Gallery over what is described as the ‘non-delivery’ of three sculptures he agreed to buy in September 2014. Artnews reports that the collector has paid instalments on all three sculptures, totalling $13million, but the completion date on each has been pushed back.
Victoria Miro to represent estate of Ilse D’Hollander | Victoria Miro gallery now represents the estate of Belgian artist Ilse D’Hollander (press release). D’Hollander’s work is currently on view in the exhibition ‘Surface Work: Abstract Women Painters’ taking place at Victoria Miro’s two London galleries.
