The New Delhi-based photographer’s intimate and playful portraits of contemporary life in India go on show at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (until 10 April). Highlighting Gill’s wide-ranging practice, the exhibition includes examples of the artist’s work with both analogue and digital photography, in both monochrome and colour. Highlights include several works from Notes from the Desert (1999–ongoing), a series capturing rural life in Rajasthan, and works from Acts of Appearance (2015–ongoing), in which figures dressed in papier-mâché masks, created by the members of the Kokna and Warli communities in Maharashtra, are engaged in everyday tasks such as visiting the doctor or playing on the street.
