This exhibition at the Kunsthalle Schirn in Frankfurt (23 March–29 May) brings together two large-scale video installations by the Turner prize-winning artist, both of which encapsulate Price’s innovative means of teasing out new meanings from historical sites and objects, frequently passing oblique comment on the ways in which our experience of history has changed in an increasingly digital world. Drawing on the archives at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, Price’s A RESTORATION (2016) looks at how Arthur Evans, the museum’s first director and renowned archaeologist, documented his restoration of the site of a Bronze Age city in Crete. The video installation shows digital versions of many of the artefacts Evans discovered; it features a narrator, created using text-to-voice technology, guiding viewers through the collection. Another work, UNDERFOOT (2022), journeys through the reading rooms of the Mitchell Library in Glasgow, led by two anonymous guides. Find out more on the Kunsthalle Schirn’s website.
