Eckbos Legat: Anniversary Exhibition

11 August 2023

This summer, the non-profit organisation Eckbos Legat marks its centenary with a group exhibition at the Vigeland Museum in Oslo (until 17 September). The featured artists – Andrea Scholze, Einar Grinde, Lin Wang and the duo Ellinor Aurora Aasgaard and Zayne Armstrong – were selected from 109 applicants, one of whom will be chosen by a jury to receive a grant of 200,000 kroner. The shortlisted works vary from painted porcelain objects to inflatable horses, a scenic installation and a series of ceramic figures. Visitors can also explore the museum’s permanent collections, which include 212 bronze, granite and cast-iron sculptures by the institution’s namesake, the Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. These include Monolith (1923–43), a monumental structure that features a 17-metre-tall central totem carved from one stone block, surrounded by sculpture-filled steps. Find out more on the Vieglands website.
