Introducing Rakewell, Apollo’s wandering eye on the art world. Look out for regular posts taking a rakish perspective on art and museum stories.
Earlier this week, Grayson Perry took to Twitter to ask for the public’s help. Kevin, his cat (and occasional sitter), had gone AWOL, having not returned home for more than two days. Posting a photo on Twitter of Kevin and Perry in happier days, the artist admitted that the social media platform wasn’t making things any easier:
Kevin has been missing now for two and a half days consequently twitter is torture what with all the lovely cats. We miss him so much pic.twitter.com/KTRLdQGvQe

Other Perry family members were no less upset…
Will everyone who has got a obviously healthy well fed cat in their house that isn’t theirs let it out please. Kevin has disappeared…again. I miss him. pic.twitter.com/xk905jvckz

This is the kind of thing that only happens in children’s books. My mum and dad’s missing Cat on the front page of a newspaper. Hope it has a fairytale ending and he comes home. 😿 pic.twitter.com/yI8u6JuLPU

So it was that Rakewell breathed a sigh of relief yesterday, when Grayson revealed that Kevin was safe and sound, and already back in the limelight with some rather unlikely company…

Ed’s round doing a podcast. Kevin has bitten him twice. He’s just being friendly says Ed. No, that’s his chair. pic.twitter.com/rh0VPBR3Ky
