This week’s competition prize is Masterpieces: Art and East Anglia, edited by Ian Collins (Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, £25)
Masterpieces: Art and East Anglia is published as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the University of East Anglia, and accompanies the spectacular exhibition ‘Masterpieces: Art and East Anglia’. It explores and illuminates the region’s highest creative achievements. The story told by this book is a revelation and more than a catalogue, with over 250 colour illustrations and 125 scholarly essays by 84 authors. The region has an immensely rich and high-profile heritage of ecclesiastical art and architecture and has a long tradition of producing, inspiring and nurturing great artists – from Constable and Gainsborough to Munnings, Cotman and Crome. But here Ian Collins takes a much broader view. Alongside celebrated masterpieces by painters and sculptors, ceramicists and goldsmiths are exceptional works by shawl-makers, by stained glass artists and photographers, by product designers and engineers. Each work, as revealed in a short essay by an expert in the field, is a masterpiece in its own right.
For your chance to win simply answer the following question and submit your details below before midday on 27 September 2013.
