Introducing Rakewell, Apollo’s wandering eye on the art world. Look out for regular posts taking a rakish perspective on art and museum stories.
Intriguing reading in last week’s Sunday Times Magazine, in which horsey author Jilly Cooper spoke to Camilla Long about her new book (the not-in-any-way-suggestively-titled Mount!), her dogs, and her ‘terrible moments of bitching’.
Indeed, Cooper then provided a ‘terrible moment’ to order:
‘It turns out she is baffled by Grayson Perry, a “wanker” who is “without talent”. “I don’t understand,” she pleads, as we both toss more white wine down our throats. “Does he dress up every day, or…just when he’s going out? Does he have a wife? Does she like him dressing up? I would not have that, would you? Complete turn-off!”’
Ahem. Your round, Grayson… Rakewell is more than happy to forward on his review copy of Mount! if you need inspiration.
