After a £4.3m renovation and expansion, the Fruitmarket in Edinburgh reopened its doors on 7 July. The exhibition space has been doubled, with the centre expanding into an adjacent warehouse (formerly home to Electric Circus nightclub) that will serve as a venue for theatre and music as well as visual art presentations. The gallery has reopened with a retrospective for the Scottish artist Karla Black, whose tactile, abstract sculptures constructed from materials as diverse as cardboard and Vaseline will be on view until 24 October. Find out more from the Fruitmarket website.
