As performance art and body art slowly percolate into the mainstream, they need discriminating advocates to judge how such work is best displayed, collected and archived. The Italian scholar and curator Eugenio Viola has edited monographs on Hermann Nitsch, Marina Abramović and Orlan, and curated numerous exhibitions in both his native country and further afield. They include a major festival of performance art, Corpus: Arte in Azione, at Madre, the contemporary art museum in Naples.
