Co-founder and CEO, Sketchfab, New York
Have you ever wanted to take your favourite museum artefact home with you? Well, these days you can: all you need is access to a 3D printer and the Sketchfab platform, which was co-founded in 2012 by Alban Denoyel. Sketchfab’s software allows users to display, share and download 3D, AR and VR content. A number of major cultural institutions use the service for 3D reconstructions and photogrammetry – for example the British Museum, whose models can be freely downloaded from the Sketchfab website. The platform looks set to grow: it was recently acquired by Epic Games, a large American entertainment company and provider of 3D engine technology. Denoyel was co-organiser of the NYC European Tech Meetup between 2014 and 2017, and before starting Sketchfab he worked for four years in 2D photography.
